This is such a bad idea. I'm sure we'll end up with an unrated director's cut...

I think that's exactly what they're going for. From what I've read, the trailers have had a pretty lukewarm reaction from people online, so they're going to try and get the lucrative teen audience who will gladly see almost anything (as the unfunny reference and product placement filled "Genre Movie" franchise will attest to) to see it in theaters while making the bulk of their money on the "Unrated - The Version You Couldn't See in Theaters" DVD buying crowd.

I didn't really have any interest of seeing this one in theaters after seeing the trailers (though having Titus Pullo play the Punisher did initially get my attention) and I agree that this will only make it even more terrible. It will wind up like watching Deadwood on The Disney Channel.

How hard is it to make a decent Punisher movie? Jeez. The trailer out and out sucked. Way way over the top...lame.
