Linsanity... are you in?

Being of Asian heritage, (born in Taiwan) I'm biased and I'm all in.

I just hope they media hype doesn't burn out or turn against him when he comes back down to earth.

Will you join the J-Lin bandwagon?

I just saw a story about this on my local news. Good for him! :bolian:

Being from New York, and a Knicks fan, I just have this to say:

Am I the only one who finds it ass-backward that Jeremy Lin was making NBA minimum wage and doing all this while Carmelo Anthony cost the team millions and has done nothing to earn it but get injured and dress like an eighties aerobics star?

Of course I'm In.

NBA Contracts are set. He was undrafted, so his contract would logically be lower. Carmelo had been re-signed (I think by the Nuggets, but maybe after the trade to the Knicks) so it would be understandably higher. Depending on the length of Lin's contract, I assume there would be an extension.

Anyway, I posted this in the NBA thread. It's a nice story. It'll depend on if he can keep going, but, for a guy who came out of nowhere and had been underrated his entire collegiate and (brief) professional career, it's good to see him get some recognition.

It is a good story. Tonight he only has 10 points, but NY is up by 23 right now.

He's most likely an excellent fit for what they needed and once everyone is back & healthy and they've adjusted, the Knicks could be a much better team.

He finished with only those 10 pts, but he dished out 13 assists. That had to go a long way towards his teammates shooting 51%. That alone is enough to get plenty of love possible from your teammates!

I have always liked the Knicks despite that little bit of "ugliness" inflicted upon my team in the 1970 Finals. I like this whole Jeremy Lin thing that is going on. It's good for the league.

Hope no one takes this the wrong way but, Lin just does not "seem" like a Knicks player to me (and I'm NOT referring to playing ability, race, or nationality here). The Knicks are possibly the "coolest" NBA team ever and Lin is decidedly not "cool" (in a good way). He is a square peg fitting beautifully into a round hole. Great story.

But, IMO, the Knicks have been enjoying one of those "missing star" psych boosts that many NBA teams get when their star(s) is missing. The question to me is, how will it affect Lin when the offense once again slows to a crawl when Melo returns. Can Lin be as much of a force without the ball in his hands? We'll see.

BTW, did I mention that the Knicks are going nowhere until they get rid of D'Antoni?

I'm in.....if they stop with the 50 or so Lin puns per telecast like he's some cute little Asian boy that's being patted on the head. Talk about his accomplishments. Headlines like "Linsanity Linfects China and Taiwan" just.....make me want to throw something at the screen. Talk about his level of play, gentlemen. The puns grew tiresome after the first day. Level of play. His remarkable perserverance. That sort of thing. Not the puns, dudes.

Never mind the fact that it shows he remembers that basketball is a team sport....something many other players have forgotten

This is my favorite thing about MLB. You can have one guy making $450,000 who is just lighting it up and then there are two guys making $184 million dollars a day who couldn't hit a ball a foot.

One thing is for certain. With the off-season labor strife, the NBA needs a story like this, badly. It's positive and inspiring and most of all drawing attention to a league that has been having problems holding onto its fanbase.

A-Rod and Jeter in the postseason... :shifty:

I grew up in NY as a Knicks fan during the Bulls, Pacers, and Heat rivalries of the 90s. They were such a hot ticket I'd have to get Nets tickets when they'd venture through the tunnel to see my team.

I can deal with the lean years, but the Dolan/Isiah Thomas years killed me with the off the court crap. I defected and became a Magic fan. I'm thrilled to see the Garden hopping again though and the team actually relevant for once. Not a fan of the Carmelo trade though, they mortgaged the farm for one guy.

I don't hear much chatter anymore about Lin on ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike show during my morning drive to work.

Has the Linsanity taken it's Prozac already? :(

The all star break slowed that train down a bit.

That and the fact he has more turnovers than a bakery.
