Lingerie Question

Okay, my lady friend has hinted she wants lingerie as a gift, and my problem is this:

What would the Community suggest I do to get the correct size?
It seems silly, but getting stuff that doesn't fit would be insulting and UN-sexy -- for a long time.
Any suggestions, aside from just asking?

If you want to buy her a nightgown, or something like that, look at her shirt size or dress size. If she is a "friend with benefits" then I assume you could easily check the tag on one of her shirts or dresses.

If you know her pant size, you can figure out what size underwear she needs. Bras are very size-specific, however, so you'd have to know her exact size, plus they vary by brand so that will be tricky.

As mentioned, bras are pretty specific in their sizing, so you might want to avoid something that includes one. It will be easier to get the nightdown or dress-like ones. Many of those come in simple small, medium, or large sizes, in which case you can probably make a fair guess at to what she'll need. You should also seriously consider asking the store clerk to help you - they will know which ones might safely fit a variety of sizes, and if you show them a picture of your friend they may be able to help you pick something that is at least in the ballpark. If you're not sure between two sizes, pick the smaller one. And make sure to include the gift receipt.

I'm working in a sex shop, so I talk from experience. And I have to agree with what @Mr. Laser Beam suggested, bring her with her. Because, men picking out lingerie for their lady friends alone is always tricky. Even the lady herself, just knowing her size, does not always find something that actually fits. Best to bring her and let her try a few things on before picking something.

If you want to surprise her with something that she's probably going to like, get her a We Vibe, preferably model 4+ or newer.

Get her a filmy negligee/nightie. You can check the tag in what she is wearing now. Possibly a Small, Medium, or Large. Always err in a size too small rather than too large if you have to guess. If it doesn't fit too good, go with her to return it. Mainly, act as if seeing her in whatever you picked out made you crazy to see her in it. Making her feel sexy will fix any mistakes in your choice.

Maybe get all her clothes sizes, from lingerie to shirts/slacks/dresses, and then she wouldn't know which one you have in mind. Ask her.

It's annoying to get a nice piece of lingerie and have it be the wrong size. Returns suck (if they're allowed).

I'll echo the comments on avoiding bras as a gift, they are way too specific in size variations - even some supposedly well trained store clerks are going to have a tough time suggesting a correct size even with your GF present. Also, a lot of women don't even know/wear their correct bra size! It's a nightmare.

Nighties are a pretty safe bet.
