Just saw it - very impressed!
Of course, the whole thing is based on the original, but I wondered how many references I missed, and how many (subtle or obvious) I caught. How many plot points or choices came from the old show?
For example -
- Sulu's gotta fence (Naked Now)
- Kirk eats an apple because he doesn't believe in the no-win scenario (TWOK)
- To regain command, Kirk needles Spock about his parents, and Spock loses it (This Side of Paradise)
- McCoy helps Kirk out with a little creative medicine (Amok Time)
- Bad guys use nasty space creatures to get some info out of the good guys (TWOK)
- Pike ends up in a wheelchair (The Menagerie)
and naturally the quotes,
"Fascinating"
"Green-blooded hobgoblin"
What other lifts/tributes/nods did you notice?
