Thanks for the posting. As a Canadian myself, I had a real pride in his work. He left quite a legacy, despite the mediocre outings in recent years.

I never realized how old he was. I've loved his work and will miss his ultimate dead-pan delivery. RIP

Really saddened to hear this: I'll be watching Forbidden Planet or a Naked Gun to mark his passing. RIP Frank Drebin/Cmdr Adams: I just want say "Good luck, we're all counting on you..."

Rest in peace, Leslie Nielsen, and thanks for playing Commander J. J. Adams in Forbidden Planet, one of the best science-fiction films.

Awww, thats such a shame. I've always been impressed at how he managed to rebuild his career from nearly forgotten dramatic actor to a brilliant comic. Hell, I don't think theres anyone who didn't love the guy.

^^I remember seeing him on Carson years ago and he credited his comedy work to the casting director on Airplane! -- he was a retired ex-lantern-jawed-hero-type when they saw something no one else had and came to him for that role. It gave him a whole 2nd career.

What a shame but he'd had a good run, a great career and leaves a wonderful legacy behind him:)

From /b/ with obvious love:
