No, that happens in John Byrne's IDW photomontage comic New Visions #5, "A Scent of Ghosts" -- which, as it happens, I just finished reading.

She was originally going to be Admiral Timothea Rogers in Brad Ferguson's A Flag Without Stars. The reveal was lost in the edits/rewrites that book endured.

It looks like Number One is going to be a Captain in this book, judging from her sleeve stripes. She was a Commodore in Byrne's comics.

Are you allowed to share any shots of the cover art in-progress, Greg? As an artist myself, I'd find that fascinating.

I'm not sure that would be kosher, honestly. And I certainly wouldn't want to do so without the artist's permissions. It was mostly tinkering, to make sure the cover art more accurately reflected the book. (An earlier version featured McCoy instead of Spock, for instance, but I lobbied for including Spock instead since he plays a bigger part in the book and has more of a connection to Number One.)

Pretty much all of those comics are set around 2270 or thereabouts (going by the internal continuity-references within them) IIRC, so if this novel is set earlier in the 5YM, it could still work.
