Left 4 Dead demo now on Steam & Xbox Live

I've just spent over an hour playing the Left 4 Dead demo on Xbox Live, and I'm guessing a lot of you have been doing the same. As a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, zombies, and both of the above combined, I'd been looking forward to this one for quite a while and I wasn't disappointed.

There's some serious fun to be had here in co-op, and the experience on the whole was freaking intense. It's not the best looking game around, but it plays flawlessly and in my few matches with an Australian (me), a Brit, and two Yanks, there was never any hint of lag. Now that's what I'm talkin about!

Bring on the full version. One week to go!

Had a quick blast on SP for a dew minutes and enjoyed it a lot. Plan to give it a good grilling later with some friends to really give it a go. Any other UK players here would love to blast with some of my BBS members (I say UK due to ping).

As I said, I was playing with two Americans and a Brit, and there was no lag whatsoever. Like, none. Not even a stutter.

I'm enjoying it so far, that many (incl. me) don't have a mic on Steam kinda dampens the co-op atmosphere somewhat, but it's still there. I'm not sure it has the longevity to justify a purchase, but I'm liking what I see.

On an unrelated note, I hate all this community bullshit that's been integrated into Steam. I don't want an account-wide tag or yet another IM client you 'tards.

Ya, not having a mic doesn't bother me in most games, but I wish I had one for L4D.

I was going to get it on Steam because Source looks better at higher resolutions afforded by my PC, but I absolutely want to talk to my teammates over something like XBL.

Going to get it on 360 for that reason - and I cannot. wait.!

Well I have one!

but on XBL you're almost guaranteed that your teammates will have mics already plugged in and ready to go - but on PC it's a crap shoot (though most probably would have them given that L4D is completely coop).

I have a mic on the PC too, but hardly ever use it. From playing TF2 it seams as if most have a mic, but don't use it unless someone else is speaking already.

As for L4D, just had a quick go and it's every bit as good as I expected. Funny thing is, so far the AI seams to be better and more useful than most human co-op players! For one thing they don't wander off on their own and they check their fields of fire. Oh and TWICE now I've been on a team where some idiot decided to provoke the witch, when most of us had next to no health! Makes me glad friendly fire is on.

I'm contemplating putting my free month of Gold on just to try it, but I think I should save that for when I get the game.

Played it earlier online and wow it was fun though I feel the game may be a little short to warrant the price tag so might get it a little further down the line.
