It won't make much of a difference. In fact, it might make it even grainier because it's picking up all the grain that much better. It really depends on the movie, I guess. I watched Robocop on DVD today, and I was astounded by the picture quality. I could actually see the pores on people's faces, all the tiny details in the Robocop suit, signs in the background I'd never noticed before, all kinds of stuff. The OT Star Wars discs look incredible, too. On the other hand, the Dark Knight, which is pretty much brand new, looks kinda crappy on dvd on an hdtv. Pixel city.
thanks! cool, they use Paypal. Im gonna get the 5 ft 28 AWG. After I set it up Ill return here and post the results for the curious. even if it doesnt greatly improve the pic quality of the dvds it should(I assume) at least improve the sound quality. Im still using composite for audio and my music cds dont sound too great.
yeah, that site has excellent quality for cheap prices. I've done 2 full home theater setups in my house, with 30-35' cable runs, with no problems. Excellent stuff. And I can't even imagine the quote Best Buy would give me if I told them I wanted 35' HDMI cables, with 24AWG. It would probably involve a 2nd mortgage, though

I find it mildly funny that so many people say that there is NO difference in HDMI but yet you talk about buying a certain spec cable. However, I do totally agree about Monster being WAAAAY over priced.. There IS a difference. However, you'll never be able to tell....

As far as the spec cable, there IS a difference. But not in picture quality. The spec I talked about is just shielding and cable thickness. The 24AWG I bought was for in-wall installation, and can run closer to power without interference. Stuff is pretty thick and not very bendable, so not really well suited for hooking up devices, just for running in the walls. The regular cables (28AWG) is prefectly fine for the other applications, and the signals look perfect.
I only mentioned the cables by AWG spec because that's how they are sold on that website, not because I feel that there's a performance difference (aside from shielding levels, as mentioned).
Since it's a digital signal, it pretty much works or doesn't. If it's not failing and you're not getting obvious glitches (from interference, mainly), then it worked perfectly. As all of the cables I mentioned are shielded, pretty much the same, at 1/20th the cost.
Care to explain the Monster Cable difference? Signal look MORE perfect?
I have a 360 and a standalone Samsung BD player. Best of both worlds if you ask me.

I could just link the web site but really.... Whats the point.. However, for the record.... I don't use Monster Cables, I use our store brand.. They just as good...
so I finally found sometime to hook up the hdmi cable & I didnt really notice much difference(compared to component). I only saw a bit improvement in one dvd I had tested earlier. But hey its nice to have less cables.
