Law & Order: Los Angeles given 13 episode pick-up, other L&O News

I was pretty sure that Meloni and Hargitay were confirmed through 2011, which was when their current contracts run out. It's beyond that's in question.

*head-desk* First CSI passes up now L&O? So much for Tulsa!

Then again, I have always been a proponent for either franchise branching out to D.C.

In the 'good news' column, it will likely mean more work for myself and my esteemed colleagues in the biz! WIN!

Law & Order: Los Angeles? Kiefer Sutherland is available and local. :)

"Put down the deposition now! Damnit!"

Why would Law and Order do a DC when SVU is supposed to be a spinoff of L&O and the Baltimore based Homicide Life on the Street. Rerun that in prime time and see what kind of ratings you get! I haven't really followed SVU since they made Munch a phantom cop.

Re: Law & Order: Los Angeles rumors

Well, I would expect that the network will bend over backwards to indulge the wishes of the producers of Law and Order: Los Angeles. Because as we know, whatever LOLA wants, LOLA gets. ;)

Jimmy Smits? For a show set in and titled Los Angeles, I was thinking more... Christian Slater and Young MC? ;)

Unless it does real well, I don't see it getting picked up for more.

Can someone give me the ratings for the current L&O shows?

And what would NBC say is the cut-off point for dumping them?

I don't have the specific ratings... but I would imagine the cut off point for cancellation would be losing money on the show. As long as they can keep rotating cast to keep it cheap, I don't believe it will ever be canceled.

^And sharing the costs with TNT certainly helps.

And let's face it, given how much trouble NBC is having filling it schedule, they can't really afford to cancel any show they can still break even on.

SVU is getting close to being canceled only because everyone wants to leave the show or get paid an insane amount.

CI no one cares about and is cheap considering everyone left.

Vanilla was supposed to end this year but still get's 7+ million viewers on a dieing network so they gave it an unofficial pick up of 13 episodes.

So I think it's a safe bet if LA get's 7-8 million viewers it will get a full season. Then next year they will need to decide which ones are worth it, because Vanilla and SVU could both end and that would only leave LA standing.

I'd rather see any of the spin-offs go before the original L&O. I like all the current characters...I hope they all come back for the next season.

Why not retool the show? After 20 years it is a stale formula. They should mix it up a little, but I think it is about time they dumped SVU and CI and gave us a whole slew of different cities. Make Benson or Stabler go to Baltimore or Boston, and send one the CI guys to DC or Seattle or something.

NBC is heading down the tubes anyway, so to me LOLA is just delaying the inevitable.

Not all of them are...

Also the 21st season next year is supposed to be the finale, for real... really.

Also I think this season's has been the best in years. The cancer storyline, we see her husband and everything clicks well and are more interactions between the cops and the lawyers.

That's not Van Buren's husband we've been seeing lately. She divorced her hubby after he cheated on her (he even gave her HPV...which is what caused her cancer. Presumably HE got it from whoever he cheated with).

Frank (Ernie Hudson's character) is her new boyfriend. Her (now ex) husband has not appeared onscreen in many years. I think the last time was way back in season 6, the ep where several characters witness an execution.

As for L&O: LA...they should just use the characters from Boomtown. Anyone remember that?
