The last remaining survivor of the sinking of the Titanic has died in an English nursing home at the age of 97.
Millvina Dean was two months old when the Titanic, on its maiden voyage from England, sank after hitting an iceberg on April 15, 1912.
She was the ship's youngest passenger. As the Titanic sank she was placed in a sack and carried to safety.
Her mother and brother also survived, but her father was among the 1,500 passengers and crew who died.
The family returned to Southampton, where Millvina Dean spent most of her life.
Despite having no memories of the disaster, she always said it had shaped her life, because she would have grown up in the United States instead of returning to the UK.
Rest of story here
Sad to see the last of the survivors go. She was lucky to have 97 extra years of life than the scores of children who died during the sinking.
DEspite her passing I think the legend of the Titanic will however go on for a long, long time.
