Last Supper

So what about it? Your last meal... bring it.

I'm as common as muck. I want a hamburger. I want a margarita and a perfect lemon meringue pie. Delicate short pastry. Tangy lemon. Fluffy meringue and a dollop of cream.

Chips with the burger.

Make that two margaritas. (Lime and lemon, silver tequila, triple sec). Frankly, a Big Mac will do at a pinch for the burger but a Kiwi burger (patty, egg, beetroot, etc.) is even better.

Steak and Chips. A nice big slab of ribeye, medium rare, but a few charred edges too. Proper fluffy golden chips. Garlic fried mushrooms, maybe a few tomato’s roasted on the vine. And a big dollop of English mustard. All washed down with a beer, followed by a bottle of wine, a few drams of an ancient whisky. And then maybe a packet of beefy seabrooke crisps or pork scratchings.

Oh God, my mouth is watering.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing, with lots of gravy. Two glasses: one filled with Vanilla Coke, the other with L&P.

Some dessert cheese tarts, a few macarons, a few cream cheese-infused sugar cookies, and a piece of red velvet cake.

Weep, L&P. It has been another life since I've had that.

Whet the appetite with a whiskey sour made with real citrus instead of that bottled syrup. Then present a tableside Caesar salad prepared from scratch. Next, bring out an entree of broiled lobster with garlic butter, and a piece of rare beef tenderloin (or the closest equivalent cut depending on the traditional way of divvying up beef in your country), with seasonal roasted vegetables and pommes frites. Follow up with cherries jubilee flambeed tableside.

I made hubby his all time favourite last night (not that it's his actual last supper).

Roast chicken. Except I stuffed up the stuffing. I always make bread and sage and onion, but made sausage stuffing for a change. It was all right but sort of over savoury. Looove stuffing

Have lots of chicken left over too.

Mr Kim doesn’t mind roast chicken but loves stuffing too. Will have to try that sometime soon.

'Mr Kim' - I like the way you put that. For my money the regular sage and onion is better. Mr Refuge kept saying how special it was :) I did a huge amount of extras - stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, roast spuds, carrots and parsnips, pumpkin, green beans and gravy of course. Could barely fit it on the plates.

Mr Kim would like that very well but now you’re making me hungry too!
