Last Doctor Who Story you listened to?

Well, I wasn’t too impressed by the Doctor Who Christmas episode, but I listened to BF’s Echoes set, with the Eighth Doctor, Liv, and Helen, and the latest Torchwood main range release, Reflect, with Ace and Mr. Colchester, which made me think happy thoughts about Doctor Who again. I know some people get burned out on Big Finish, but they’re still making some enjoyable audios.

Finally got around to BF’s Sarah Jane Smith audios. I’m glad I knew going in that they end on a cliffhanger. Pretty enjoyable overall, and a very different direction from the TV series that came not too long afterward. But no doubt SJA being done as a kids’ show is what killed the chances of resolving the cliffhanger.

I finished up Energy of the of the Daleks a couple days ago, and I was pretty happy with how it ended.

I listened to the recent Death and Life of River Song set, having enjoyed the previous Diary of River Song series. This is a bit different, as it's a post-Library River who's been uploaded into a temporary new body, in a far future time she's not very familiar with, and without some of the things she depends on, including the Doctor. She's less in control than she's used to being. The four parts tell one story that BF cynics will be unsurprised to recognize as a prequel to a TV story that BF has touched on more than once already, but it worked well enough for me. I don't know if this is a one-off or a fresh start for River, but I'm always happy to hear Alex Kingston again.

In order to deal wtih the seemingly present hiatus, I've organized my weekend viewings to explore the following:

* The Eleventh Doctor Chronciles box sets starring Jacob Dudman as a pitch-perfect impersonation of Matt Smith's Doctor, with new companion Valerie Lockwood - they're said to be excellent.
* The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures which see Jodie Whittaker return as the Doctor with Mandip Gill also returning as Yasmin.
* The Ninth Doctor Adventures with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, with Billie Piper returning as Rose Tyler.

Should be an interesting summer, for sure. :)

Listened to 13's first BF audio last night, Vampire Weekend. It’s a relatively light hourlong adventure, not earthshaking but fun enough. I always thought 13 had elements of 9, 10, and 11, and at times this one leans way into 11, but there’ll probably be more of a balance over time. Both the story and the interviews make it sound like Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill are having a fun time with it.
