Last Classic Who Story you watched

It was nice change of pace that everybody didn't just instantly trust the Doctor and start doing everything he told them.

I'd say that's more the norm for that era than the exception. It was pretty common for the Doctor and companions to get thrown in prison or sentenced to summary execution by the people they were trying to help, because they were these strangers or stowaways who suddenly showed up where they weren't supposed to be in the middle of a crisis and thus were assumed to be responsible for it. And IIRC, "Planet of Evil" was one of many stories where the imperious/inflexible authority figure was as much of an antagonist as the monster du jour.

I guess I just got used to the new show, where the one off characters always seem to get over any suspicion about The Doctor and his companion after just a few minutes.

Is Shada the only serial where it's a combination of live action footage and animation? I had most of them were, but looking at the stuff on Youtube it looks like most of them are completely animated.

Earlier animated serials only animated the missing episodes. Later on, they animated everything "to provide a more consistent viewing experience" or something. For partially animated ones, check out: The Moonbase, The Invasion, The Reign of Terror, and The Tenth Planet. [there may be others but I can't think of them off the top of my head]

Which makes little sense to me. Sure, it gives the animators more freedom to diverge from the episodes and do their own thing, but in cases where they animate existing episodes, they're replacing them with something that, let's face it, is inferior in quality to the real thing, because the animation is always so cheap and mediocre on these things. Instead of wasting money on recreating existing episodes, why not use that budget to improve the quality of the animation on the missing episodes? It also feels somewhat disrespectful to replace the original material when there's no need to.

I believe the answer was something like "we can't expect a modern audience to accept switching b/t animations and live action!" also they can't do 16:9 versions then because the live action is 4:3. *insert eye roll here*

OK. I'm with @Christopher, I'd much rather get all of the original filmed material, with the animation just filling the missing episodes. And that excuse from the BBC or whoever is in charge of those doesn't really work form, all they need to do is put a disclaimer at the beginning explaining the situation and I think most people would be OK with it. There are plenty of shows and movies with animated scenes thrown into the middle of a live action production, so I don't think people would be that bothered by going back and forth.
I started The Android Invasion this morning, and after the first episode, I have no idea what the hell is going on, but I'm very curious to find out. From the title, I'm assuming it has something to do with androids.
