Laptop question - input devices

I've noticed some weirdness on my laptop this morning. I use an optical mouse with a trackball and it was running slow, and at first I thought that might be because I've had it for several years and it might just need to be retired. However, I've also noticed the keyboard being slower to type stuff in than it normally is, and I can't think of why there would be an issue with either device. I didn't have this issue yesterday and I haven't dropped the computer or anything.

Any advice? The mouse seems to be more problematic than the keyboard at the moment, but the problem has been kind of inconsistent. Sometimes the keyboard seems to type at the normal speed.

Are you running anti-virus software (hope so.....otherwise you're on your own)

It could be an automatic scan and your computer is busy working on it; see if your hard drive light is flashing a lot.

Or worst-case scenario it might be infected. Wouldn't hurt to run a scan.

No, it's a Mac and doesn't have any security issues that I presently know of. It's seemed fine today, so I'm not sure what was going on. :p

Would have been nice if you had said that first; we're not psychic....

Still, your computer was busy doing SOMETHING. There are tools where you can see what processes are running and determine if something different is going on.
