Laptop Gaming

I am interested in recommendations for games that play well on laptop. I have a Dell XPS M1530, and typically find myself on the couch or somewhere that use of a mouse doesn't work out so well. Any good PC games that work well for the laptop scenario?

What sort of games are you interested in?

If you're looking towards modern games, say from the last 18 months, the graphics card in your portable rig will be important too, as games from the last 6 years or so will do well with he right graphics processing. What do you have on your laptop?

If you're playing a game that demands keyboard-mouse heavy usage, such as a shooter game, you'd do well to invest in a good USB mouse and keyboard to avoid fatigue on your laptop, and to play the games on a separate table and chair to avoid strain on your back and wrists. You'd do well to make good use of a mouse anyway, as strategy games use them a lot.

Of course, your laptop should play older games like the original Unreal Tournament, Quake III, Deus Ex, some of the older Total War titles, etc. with considerable ease (Vista notwithstanding) as well as less hardware-demanding recent titles such as Peggle.

Personally speaking, you can't go wrong with adventure games either, nor with much older RPG titles. Yes, I sound like a broken record player but I'd recommend Planescape: Torment (if you can find a copy) to any aspiring RPG/adventure gamer with a laptop. :bolian:

Games I always keep on hand for laptop usage:

Planescape: Torment
Deus Ex
Neverwinter Nights
Diablo II
Disciples II
Audiosurf
Civilization II/III/IV
SimCity 4

^^ It's like we're twins. Apart from the NWN / Diablo II / Disciples II thing.

I'd also add Morrowind, some from of GTA (not IV, sadly), and Spiderweb Software's vastly underrated Exile trilogy and Avernum pentalogy. :bolian:

San Andreas runs surprisingly well even on a netbook (which is what I mainly use.)

And how could I forget about Morrowind? Several years ago, the determining factor in what laptop I bought was whether or not it could handle that game!

I've also managed to get X3 Reunion running on my laptop with no problems. No mean feat.

another vote for sim city 4!!! You can always pick up Command and Conquer The First Decade, it comes with 10 or so games, which are from 2003 and older so they will run fine on your laptop
