Well, they can. They won't, but they can. There are still traditional network TV shows that are producing 22 or more episodes per year.
It's not redundant if they're falling short of supplying our demand for this stuff. Plus it would offer a different flavour of it that may appeal to a different segment of the audience. I mean, I'd check it out, and I've pretty much given up on SNW.

Story structure they varied, quality of stories (YMMV) they varied but they have pretty much the same tone. At least from Discovery season 2 onwards.

The relaunch of Night Court cranked out roughly 15 episodes per each of its three seasons. That's about as long a season of a modern network or streaming sitcom that will get produced.
And our is who precisely?
Hardly a different flavour if you want a carbon copy of a show just to compensate for shorter seasons. Especially if the duplicate show is created on no surrounding premise and populated by characters people are either against or apathetic towards.
I'm a maximalist so I want as many shows as humanly possible and then to double that amount but there has to be a more solid why to it. I don't just want The Next Next Next Generation just for the sake of it.
Other than brighter SNW bridge lighting, the two shows would be practically the same. A new audience would have no idea of the fact that they take place 150 years apart. With CBSTrek, that’s just not a good enough difference to justify making it. So there would be little point in creating a show that for all intents and purposes is a clone of the show already being produced.
Not very many, in fact the networks now consider 22 episodes to be an "XL episode count" and there are no shows on the American networks that go over 22. Very few even make it 20, with 18 now being considered a full season in many instances.
And even then, a majority of the network shows on schedule for the 2026/27 season are only planned for ten episodes, with the plan to swap out shows at the midseason point in the winter.
Twenty-six episodes a season are definitely a thing in the past. Even in the 90s, the Star Trek shows were the only shows on television which were doing seasons with that many episodes, arguably to their detriment.
You know who I'm talking about. I'm talking about THOSE PEOPLE.
The kind of people who actually want 10 more episodes of Star Trek a year.

I think SNW proves that a new Trek series with a similar premise wouldn't necessary just be a clone, because it's so different to TNG. The TOS movies didn't feel redundant alongside the TNG series. I personally would be much more into watching 10 episodes with more of a TNG vibe and I'm sure I'm not alone in that. Especially as they've just had Lower Decks, Prodigy and Picard to get people back into the era.

If it was up to me, it would be a three year rotation for the franchise. A series of ten episodes in year one, a film in year two, another ten episodes in year three and none of them would be related to each other.
They should be happy then. Excluding 2017, 2018 and 2025, every year since Star Trek has returned there have been over 10 episodes of Trek released, peaking with 51 episodes in 2022.
(Also, I know what you meant. And I am also perfectly content with 10 episodes a year.)

I want more than 10 episodes a year but of the series I like. I don't want a different show that offers nothing new and is just a discount version of a show I am enjoying just to beef up the numbers.
Thing is, we aren't getting just ten episodes a year. Since 2020, we've gotten:
2020: 32 episodes (10 Picard, 10 LDS, 12 Disco)
2021: 22 episodes (10 LDS, 5 Prodigy, 7 Disco)
2022: 51 episodes (15 Prodigy, 6 Disco, 10 Picard, 10 SNW, 10 LDS)
2023: 30 episodes (10 Picard, 10 SNW, 10 LDS)
2024: 40 episodes (10 Disco, 20 Prodigy, 10 LDS)
2025: 10 episodes (SNW) 1 TV movie (Section 31)
2026: 20 episodes (10 SFA, 10 SNW)
2027: 16 episodes (10 SFA, 6 SNW)
And I'll note, in 2022 we only got one less than the annual total of 52 we got during the 90s.
