KOTOR MMO

A bit disappointed but not surprised with this news.

Never played an MMO, though if I were there are only three I would consider playing, KOTOR, Star Trek Online or the Stargate one. That said I would prefer a KOTOR 3 game. At least one every 6 months I'll break out KOTOR or II (depending) on the last one I played and go through the game again.

Very excited about this. I'm mostly a WoW player, dont like the other MMos I've played, so I'm happy to see a SW MMO that doesn't suck balls. I hope its more PVP oriented though, PVE storytelling in MMOs is tedious.

I'd love it if there were large "Jedi" and "Sith" factions in the game.

How are the chances that this will be similar to Freelancer on the multiplayer front? In that you have the best of both worlds?
You basically have an online world where you can roam around freely, but every now and then, when your character reaches a certain level, the main story takes over again and you have to play the entire chapter in the main quest before returning to free play.
When you are in free player mode you can team up with other players if you like, when you are on the main quest you meet the classic NPCs again.
I'm sure the writers could come up with a reason why the main character leaves his main group once in a while.
As soon as the main quest is over you will be in free play all the time.... until an extension with a NEW main quest comes out, then you will meet your NPC mates again for new adventures together!

Wouldn't this be doable?

Then you hit the LoTRO problem where everyone somehow hooks up with Strider/Aragorn to get a secret mission to help Frodo. It'd be lame to meet up with Bastila or Carth or Visas or Atton or whomever, have them give you some secret mission only to find out that everyone else on the server playing your race/class whatever gets the same mission as well.

The only thing is that this is BioWare Austin, so we can't just assume a track record. If Drew Karpyshyn and David Gaider are busy with Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age, whose to say any of the KoTOR1 writers are even working on the MMO?
