But Korean's alphabet is way easier to learn.
I think learning a language properly isn't just learning how to speak slang from TV and movies! Learning the basics and learning is properly is more important for the long term.
Then again, being immersed in a language is the best way to learn.
A few years back I wanted to learn Korean, but the guy was charging $60(?) for 2 hours....(uh, uh) I know a guy who taught himself Chinese....so, whatever language I plan on brushing up on, I think I'll go the route of my acquaintance...lol
What he did show me was an alphabet that seemed, yes, easy to pick up if one were to go ahead with the language.
Indeed, while you are learning a language properly, you still get to pick up slang and how the language is generally used by movies. Depending on the era in which the movie is set, you sometimes pick up formal ways of saying certain things or informal...(e.g. a feudal drama vs. a modern day romance or modern day gangster story).
