Knight Rider - KITTs transforming?

Crewman47

Commodore
Newbie
I just have to ask but can sombody please explain how it is physically possible for KITT to tranform into other cars, especially during transit and with passengers, is it mechanical or molecular?

It kinda looks like it could be the same way that original series season 3 KITT went into Super Pursuit Mode with all the extra parts out from nowhere.

EDIT Sorry, wrong forum. Mods please move to Sci-fi forum.
Thanks

It was suggested that he used nano-technology that could reconfigure the matter that made up the car on the fly. While he looked like a Mustang, he had to contain a lot more mass than an average Mustang considering he could become a pickup truck.

In retrospect, I didn't mind the concept of "Attack Mode" but it didn't get pulled off as well as it could have. The pickup truck thing while "Gee whiz bang cool." in some respects really pushed the transformation aspect way too far.

I'm still wondering in the one episode how Mike materialized in the bed of the pickup when he'd been in the driver's seat a second prior.

this crap is why i'm not bothering watching it on Sci-Fi UK.

the amount of shape-shifting in the movie was fine. changing into a fricking pick-up is ludicrous.

The pilot movie was relatively solid, but the series is pretty crappy (they brought in a new showrunner for the series who wanted to make things kewl). But I'm still watching it on Sci-Fi HD because of how amazing Deanna Russo looks in HD glory.

It was more than just a pickup. There were actually two pick up designs used.

i wanted to watch it, partly for DR, but after seeing a preview clip, i just couldn't bring myself too...

The sad thing is that it really did get better when they dropped the US Government angle.
Agreed. The problem was that they tried "explode" the concept and make it all big gee whiz bang. But on the budget the show had, they really would have been better going the other way, making this new fledgling FLAG grow into something bigger. In KRTOS we saw only small bits of the Foundation until much later when they needed to yank out an army of scientists to rebuild KITT.

I really wish the show would have done better despite its flaws. I've been waiting for a KR comeback for ages now, and this was the closest since TKR. :(
