Knight Rider (2008)

I just finished watching the t.v. movie for Knight Rider (the new series, well old now that they cancelled it) and it was ok. I just have one question since I did not watch the series and I don't think I will. Did they ever mention what happened to Kitt (knight two thousand)? I know the body was in the garage that kept the new Kitt.

No, they won't. The show never lasted long enough for their plans of bringing back the Hoff.

You should watch the show. It was the first continuation of a classic series since TNG that was actually good. Not great mind you, but good.

I was happy that they acknowledged the Trans Am KITT at all in the series. From what I recall, they sought out fans who had KITT replica parts for that particular scene. Very cool.

The series never delved again into KITT (2000)'s fate but they did bring in elements of the original series including KARR (though whether he is the original or not is up to debate among some fans), F.L.A.G. and even the name Michael Long.

I enjoyed the show but it suffered from way too many ideas being crammed into the beginning than it needed. Sadly, by the time they realized this (and retooled it) the show was pretty much a goner ratings-wise. I know a lot of heart went into it, but the vision behind it just didn't work. I remain convinced that had Dave Andron been made executive producer of the series (and not just a "supervising producer") it would have done much better. He basically oversaw the TV movie and the episodes he wrote (not just plotted out) felt like some of the stronger entries.

Oh well, figure it'll be at least another five years before someone touches the franchise again. :(

Can I assume you recommend it?
(Pssst... his avatar is the latest incarnation of the Doctor, and his Companion. So yeah, I'm thinking you can. ;))
well I dont know if I would recommend you rent DVDs in order the they aired on TV, I suggest you pop into the Doctor Who forum, and check into the If you were to recommend 10 classic Who DVDs… thread you should find some good start points for you.

That said if you wanted you could just start at the 9th Doctor, like many have.

I was thinking about Knight Rider 2008 the other night and watching some things put together on YouTube. This show was such a lost opportunity. I thought the TV movie was okay, not great, but enough to show it could be done and done well.

Between the movie and new TV series, I watched Team Knight Rider and wanted to die. Slap a CRT monitor on your dash, show the same rotating car image and dumb sound whenever a car talks, and poof! We've made a show that's total crap!

The newer series finally had a budget to make a great show. KITT was great, I loved transforming KITT. It seemed like a natural progression from the whole super pursuit mode thing. But now with a great car, they hired writers that had no clue what made the old show great.

Let's totally sex it up! OH TEH NOES! KITT is burning up! Take off your cloths and it will make it better! WE IS HAVING FIGHTS! Now let's go take showers in the co-ed shower and both reach for the soap! I realize that Hoff's Michael Knight was a lady's man, but he did it with class and style. What they did with this show was terrible.

Then let's throw in an insane amount of characters, a stupid virus episode, and use the word KARR for something because there was one in the old series, but have it make absolutely zero sense whatsoever.

The last few episodes of the show finally started to get good, but it was too late. The opportunity was gone.

I liked Team Knight Rider better than Knight Rider (2008). KR2008 definitely had potential, but it dang nearly imploded upon itself the moment it went to series...

I hope you mean the transforming KITT that would take on the appearance of a different Mustang, rather than the KITT that could morph into any model of the Ford lineup. Yes, the show was Sci-Fi; however, a degree of realism is (somewhat) expected.

As others have said, the show was poorly executed, which the producers didn't realize until too late. I honestly believe that had they stuck it out into a second season, the show would have grown and become popular.

I never got around to seeing it. Were those vehicles bulletproof like KITT?
Yeah, I think so. I don't recall those vehicles taking on any damage in most episodes, even when they periodically smashed through walls and stuff. Each had a different personality.

It was kind of like Knight Rider meets Mission: Impossible meets Baywatch. Mostly lighthearted, over the top stuff that didn't try to pretend it was anything else and kept things fairly simple. It was a shameless guilty pleasure for me, but then it didn't really fall that far from the original tree, IMO...

I could handle other (current) Mustangs, the trucks, the van, and police car. But I did feel it went a bit too far when they went to the old Mustang.

I agree it needed another season to really get a following. But this is NBC we are talking about.
