Kitumba as a Movie?

I realise this was originally supposed to be a Two Part episode for "Star Trek Phase II" but I remember in the book "The Art Of Star Trek" there was a sketch of Klingons attacking the Enterprise which then separated it's Saucer to chase after the Klingons. The sketch had mentioned that this was to take place at the end of TMP which would lead onto the second film. I read elsewhere that Kitumba might have been the plot since they already adapted one Phase II script for TMP.

Was this ever a possiblity for the next movie?

No. Those sketches have nothing to do with Phase II.

Here's a simple way to divine pre-TMP stuff from Phase II: The Enterprise herself. If she looks close to the TMP ship (same impulse engines, nacelles, angular torpedo deck), then it's during TMP production. The ship looked different in its Phase II incarnation.

The storyboards in question were Andy Probert's suggestion for a possible ending where the Klingons are un-digitized during V'ger's transformation. It was just Andy's idea and never accepted.

I see, thanks. I realise it's not a phase II sketch. Just wondered where the story would have gone if it had ended that way.

Mego released a toy TMP Enterprise, but it was only distributed in a few market regions in 1980; and the toy's saucer separates from the secondary hull! The saucer also had little fold-down legs, probably inspired by an early TMP premise where the saucer section was said to have been missing for a decade or so.

Wasn't that the 'South Bend' Enterprise? You could take apart the engines and pylons, and create your own starship!

^Nope. I own the toy I described. It was by Mego Corp (1980) and could be separated into its two sections, and the saucer legs fold out so it can land. Mego also did a TMP Vulcan Shuttle that wasn't distributed in the USA.

That's a very cool Toy. I never heard of anything like that been released before.
