Kirk's first time?

I'm guessing he was 18 and it was with an older woman.

I was watching "Shore Leave."
We know that in the second season Kirk says he's 34 years old, so in this first season eps I'll guess he's 33.

He sees Ruth on the Shore Leave planet, clearly an old flame of his. She looks at least the same age as Kirk, say mid-30s.

Now Kirk says it's been 15 years since he's seen her,
and that she hasn't aged a day.

Fifteen years earlier puts Kirk at 18 years old...
but he says Ruth looks the same!

So 18-year-old Kirk was romantically involved with this woman in her mid-30s named Ruth. I'd guess it was his first time.

Of course, I doubt any 60s series would imply that a *younger* Kirk (aka a minor) was sexually involved with any female.

So do you think young Mister Kirk was 18 and he lost it to an older woman named Ruth?

TOS implied a lot of stuff it couldn't come out and say. Kirk could have been younger.

I'd hazard to say that Ruth wasn't his first, though--that was probably a girl his own age when he was 15 or 16, which is pretty much standard for teens today. Ruth, however, was probably the first who knew what she was doing. That would make an impression that would eclipse Betty "Don't touch me there! You want me to put what in my mnouth?" Sue pretty handily.

Or he was simply being a gentleman. That's not an uncommon thing for a man to say to woman he hasn't seen in a long time.

But she was a fantasy image of Ruth based on his idealized memory...why would he imaginarily age her? Likewise, Finnegan hadn't aged either.

I do not see why his first time was not when he was a teen, but maybe Ruth was his first signficant affair.
