A great many members familiar with Tolkien are probably aware of Tauriel, the female elf created by Peter Jackson and inserted into the story of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. While many are concerned about this inclusion of a totally new character not in the original books, one thing I'm more perturbed about is the rumor going around that Tauriel will have a romantic subplot with Kili the dwarf. I just think this is going too far. The Hobbit simply doesn't need a love story, IMO, and it just strikes me as too mundane and gimmicky. Sure, the LotR trilogy had romantic interests, but at least they were what Tolkien originally wrote. This....just feels so horribly wrong somehow.
Kili and Tauriel romance.....NO THANKS!
