were kirk gets the girl and khan as the comic foil..
khan: A fine thing. First, you strand me on that horrible planet. Then i lose my wife escape meet an alien princess giving me a sense of hope at new love ; then you cut in on me. Then we're carried off by an orion trader. Now, we're gonna have our heads chopped off.
kirk: I know all that.
khan: Yeah, but the people who came in the middle of the picture don't.

khan: and counting their lucky stars that they did.
