US actor Kenneth Mars, best known for his appearances in Mel Brooks's films The Producers and Young Frankenstein, has died of pancreatic cancer.

His family said the 75-year-old died at his California home on Saturday.

In anarchic comedy The Producers, Mars played a Nazi enthusiast whose play, Springtime for Hitler, is turned into a tasteless Broadway musical.

Brooks also cast Mars as an earnest police inspector with a malfunctioning artificial arm in Young Frankenstein.

He was hilarious in Young Frankenstein. RIP

Mars was one of those guys who couldn't not be funny. Pretty much everything he was in he made his part memorable. I've enjoyed seeing him since I was a kid, from What's Up Doc to Malcolm in the Middle. Quite a loss. RIP.

I was watching him just this morning on Malcolm in the Middle. I loved Mars in just about everything he did. This makes me very sad.

One of tmy favorites is him & his wife on the show participating in the porn film Francis allowed permission for.
