Keep it with the Enterprise?

Should a future Star Trek Series be set on the USS Enterprise-J?

I'd love to learn more about this ship and the state of the Federation of the 26th Century. Supposedly the Klingons are members of the Federation and make up part of the crew and designs shown on the Ent-J such as the displays and doors look like the Cardassians may also be members.

Would you be more interested in an Enterprise-J series in the 26th century? rather than a different ship set in a different time period?

I wouldn't mind ...
though only if they did some minor redesigning of the shape.
Perhaps making the saucer just a tad more thicker, nacelles of some better design, and hull textures to be higher resolution with smaller windows that aren't stretched that much :D

Then again, this IS an alternate timeline that was a result of Sphere builders tampering ... so it's quite possible that another different design could take place.

Dont talk wet! :p I love the Ent-J design and I want it to stay the way it is.

It's as radical departure as the NCC 1701-D was from the TMP refit, if you ask me.

Star Trek should remain about the Enterprise and all those recognizable icons that the mainstream know. You wouldn't have Doctor Who without the Tardis or the Daleks. The key is making the characters very diverse and more interesting than their setting. Mapping out each of their story arcs in advance wouldn't hurt either. Both of these mistakes cost ST:ENT dearly... I still readily admit to liking the 22nd Century series though. But obviously it's minority following attests to how long it took to carve a niché.

A future Star Trek series with the Enterprise? Yes.

One with that photoshopped NX-01 pizza cutter? Aw, hell no.

I think any series set after the 24th-Century should disregard any previous glimpses of the future and create totally new designs from scratch. Even with the Temporal Cold War over--or perhaps even because it's over--the future ain't set in stone and neither are ship designs.

I think even with changes in the timeline, the general design of the ships is kind of going towards the Ent-J. Now, granted I missed alot of ENT because I either was in basic training, or didn't have tv. But I have seen pictures. In the course of the series the ships have gotten shorter, and sleeker, which is exactly what the ENT-J looks like.

I think any future Trek series should be set on some version of the Enterprise whether it's the E-J or the E-ZZZ.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Enterprise of the future; however, perhaps using one of the other main series names could also work.

Defiant
Voyager

Peeps,

I voted, "no." What I'd really like to see is a series set even further in the future -- the 31st century -- as I indicated in a post by that name. Sure, let's call the ship Enterprise, as it's tied to ST.

Red Ranger

Any future Star Trek series featuring an Enterprise in a post NEM era should disregard ALL previous depictions of "the future" and should forge an entirely new storyline.

Yep. The others were all just alternate futures.

Future Storylines should be disregarded yes but that doesnt mean that future ship designs should be disregarded, the people who design and build these ships in the future more than likely still will.
We dont know how long the Ent-J was in service before the war against the Sphere Builders so the Sphere Builders probably had no bearing on the design of the Ent-J, heck we even saw a Prometheus Class ship and THAT timeline was the Timeline of the sphere builders and not the timeline we see in Voyager with the episode 'message in a bottle' so if in the sphere builders timeline the Federation still builds Prometheus Class ships 200 years later then theres no reason to believe the design of the Ent-J doesnt remain the same also.

Also lets be real, theres only so many designs you can make for Federation ships, the Ent-J is a fantastic attempt to make a unique design for a Fed ship rather than the usual same rubbish we see with the saucer, then the neck, then the engineering hull and then the same old style Nacelles.
The Ent-J is a different and brilliant future design.
