Keenser question in ST 2009

Star Trek (2009) was on last night, and I'm curious how Keenser got from being left with Spock on Delta Vega to reappearing with Scotty on the Enterprise at the end of the movie. Did I miss something there?

Presumably when the Enterprise picked up Spock Prime (how else did he get to Earth) Keenser came along too.

There was a time jump of a few days between the climax and Kirk's commendation scene (judging from the healing of his facial wounds), and an even longer time jump between that scene and the launch of the Enterprise at the end (since Kirk's wounds were completely healed by then). Plenty of time for Scotty to arrange for Keenser to get reassigned from Delta Vega to the Enterprise.

Or then keensers to engineers are like parrots to pirates: one can be purchased at any port of (ill) repute, and it just wouldn't do to spend much time without one perched on your shoulder.
