Kathryn Janeway - No.20 in the 25 women who shook Sci-Fi!

cool, but i'm honestly surprised that jeri ryan didn't make it especially when you see some of the trollops that made it.

Jeri Ryan is a trollop??

And the Rose Tyler character from DR. WHO made #7? WTF??

By the way, Kathryn Janeway made #16 on the list. And I'm disappointed that Ambassador Delenn from BABYLON 5 failed to make the list.

no, no, no....quite the contrary. it's just that some of the other women on that poll made it and she didn't. i thought jeri made much better contributions than half the ladies on that list and even KM maybe should've been higher too.

Yay @ my girl Scully! :D And woohoo @ Janeway!

And I agree about Delenn - she should have been there. Seven; not so much.

Why are Xena and Buffy considered Sci-Fi?

They're close enough for government work. Never watched Xena much, but Buffy tells the same sorts of stories that Star Trek does; it simply justifies them with magicbabble rather than technobabble.

Good question. They are fantasy characters, not science-fiction.

Science fiction is itself just a subsection of fantasy anyway. Exactly where the boundary of that subset lies is pretty much "wherever you want it to be".

Glad to see B5's Ivanova on the list - agree Delynns absence a glaring omission. Janeway only 16? Who are all those 16 year olds?

Nice to see Janeway make the list.

Honestly though as far as strong female Trek characters go...I think Kira deserves to be ranked above Janeway and Uhura.

I know this is just a stupid random list, but I'm surprised Kira and Seven didn't at least make an appearance on it.

Where's Jamie Summers(The Bionic Woman)?

Where's Wilma Dearing(Erin Grey in Buck Rodgers)?

Where's Emma Peel of "The Avengers"?

There wouldn't be a Buffy or Janeway without the inspiration of these women who came first.

That list is..............logical, as I see it.

OK, I would have liked to see Janeway and Xena somewhat higher, but never mind.

The list is compiled by folk who can't be that into Sci-Fi, as much as I liked Leeloo and her red hair she's not exactly a character who shook Sci-Fi in any major way.

The mention of Rose from Doctor who just confirms to me this was wrote by someone with very limited knowledge of Sci-Fi.

Now if you consider Buffy Sci-Fi then to me it's Willow and not Buffy imo who did the most shaking of the Sci-Fi world.

Rose from Dr Who? now I don't watch Dr Who nor will I ever, but Rose is like what the 100th Assistant or whatever, just how is she special? how did she change Sci-Fi? I presume thats what they mean by shake?

Uhura kissing a white guy on tv during a time when Blacks couldn't use the same toilets as whites in some parts of the USA Kinda beats out anything Ripley, Rose, Scully and co done to shake up the Sci-Fi world.
