Kate Mulgrew on St. Elsewhere

I loved that show, and no wonder! Look at the cast! Ed Flanders, Norman Lloyd, William Daniels, David Morse, Alfre Woodard, Bruce Greenwood, Helen Hunt, Christina Pickles, Kyle Secor, Ed Begley, Jr., Stephen Furst, Howie Mandel, Mark Harmon and Denzel Washington (over a six year period). The list of guest stars is great, too: Eric Stoltz, Pauly Shore, Ray Charles, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Tom Hulce, Jane Kaczmarek, Lainie Kazan, Jayne Meadows, Laraine Newman, James Coco, Doris Roberts, Piper Laurie, Alan Arkin, Robert Davi, Christopher Guest, Lance Guest, Ray Liotta, Betty White, Michael Madsen, Stephen Elliott, Ernie Hudson, Kate Mulgrew, Kathy Bates, John Astin, Michael Richards, Austin Pendleton, Kyle Secor, Jason Bateman, Tim Thomerson, Harold Gould, Bill Macy, Herb Edelman, Blythe Danner (wife of producer Bruce Paltrow) and then-Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis. [Thanks to wikipedia for details] It's famous for one of the most interesting finales on TV. I should buy the DVDs.

I go by the building that played St. Eligius all the time. The neighborhood is relatively unchanged from as it was in the series, save for the elevated portion of the orange line subway that once ran past it. It's very surreal to go by the actual building, I can't explain it.

I, too, love this show. I caught it in reruns when it was shown on Bravo in the late 1990s. The cast was incredible, the writing phenomenal, and the acting was top notch. Never understood why it was never a huge hit in its day.

I've never heard of this show (did it even air in the UK?) but that opening sequence with the priest was brilliant!

Whenever I see Kate though I can't think of anything but Janeway. Was that bizarre Edwardian hairdo something Mulgrew-specific then? She seems to be sporting the same pompadour as in the earlier seasons of Voyager!

I agree..that was a great show. I know cause Mom loved it when it was on. :) Didn't realize that Kate Mulgrew was in it though. :)
