...well I did see LOTR but I can't say Eomar made much of an impression on me.

Plus he is a good actor. He was about all that made 'Doom' watchable IMO and I would love to see him in a decent role.

After watching that I can see McCoy in there... or maybe Scotty... remains to be seen if he can pull off either necessary accent. Other than LOTR I have never seen this guy in anything.

He was excellent as Caesar on Xena. The perfect villain. Definitely got what was coming his way.

I think that he has the facial resemblance to play McCoy, but I wonder if he could do the "Southern Country Doctor" accent.

I agree that the characterization of McCoy must remain that of the Southern country doctor... however, it occurrs to me that the accent itself was more of an occasional affectation Bones would employ than a thick, constant Southern accent. As long as he can nail McCoy's mannerisms and attitudes, he'll be fine... all this assuming it's really McCoy he's up for.

Urban is a good actor, but with The Chronicles of Riddick, Doom and Pathfinder on his CV, he's hardly a good luck charm to any movie he does, is he?

I also hope that this rumoured storyline is just a rumour.

I haven't been keeping up with Trek XI casting rumors much...but has nobody considered that he might be Kirk...?

I don't think he'll be Scotty, the producers seem keen on getting an actual scot. He seems to fit McCoy better (if he can do the southern accent):

Karl Urban was Éomer in Lord of the Rings (the horseman captain, nephew of King Theoden) and was the lead in the movie version of "Doom". He was also the assassin in "The Bourne Surpremacy." I'm sure he's been in other things, too, but those are the places I've seen him.

Eomer is the only major role of Karl Urban that I know (LOTR fan checking in).
