Kadohata?

So, I've been rereading everything from the A Time To... books on, and I've just finished Losing the Peace. A question occurs to me that I'm not sure I've seen anyone else ask:

Will Miranda Kadohata be returning to the Enterprise? Or is there going to be a new ops officer in the next book?

Not having her back would be a huge waste of character development. Especially after introducing new characters in every book only to have them be Borg fodder.

Yeah, I liked her. I thought it was interesting to see a married crew member with kids who didn't have their family with them. Pretty much every time we had seen families before this they were on the ship, so I found it to be a nice change of pace.

I haven't read through Destiny yet, but I remember thinking that the "slightly more than friendship" vibe I was getting between Kadohata and Leybenzon in BD could make for an interesting secondary story that wasn't something Trek had particularly dealt with before.

Of course, that ultimately didn't amount to anything...

I like her too, and I doubt we've seen the last of her.

Besides with Baby Picard on the way, letting Kadohata go seems to be both a waste and a distraction.

Paths of Disharmony takes place a year after Destiny and Losing the Peace finish so Dayton can bring her back without breaking a sweat.

Whether he in in fact chooses to or not is another matter entirely. Counting down to Dayton Doubletalk in 5, 4, 3....

I didn't really like her all that much when I first "met" her, but she has definitely grown on me. Hopefully she'll be back for Paths of Disharmony. I wouldn't want her to go to waste after all that character development like some of the others who are now dead that we met in Resistance and Before Dishonor. Kadohata (and of course Chen) are valuable additions to the TNG crew :techman:

I would also hate to see Kadohata go. After seeing the characters introduced in Old Wounds and Enemy of My Enemy killed off in Full Circle and Unworthy, I'm starting to think that all these new characters are being introduced and fleshed out just to be killed off and replaced.

I agree keep Kadohata around. I would like to see her during the old E-D adventures, even if its just a flashback scene.

I haven't read it yet, but according to Memory Beta she did cover for Data in the last Slings and Arrows e-book. It's still on the E, but it is a pre-Nem story.
