Just to be...normal

I'd be an accountant, if there's still $$$... or at least someone who works in the transactions of trading good and services

I'm an accountant in real life...but I'd hate being one in the Trek Universe.

Although there is something to be said for messing with the Klingons' heads like Quark did in every accountant's favorite episode: The House of Quark.

Until you run into a Klingon who doesn't listen to Gowron and actually follows through during your deathmatch challenge in the great hall. :rommie:

I'm an ex-SEAL who later became a writer and series creator... so logically... I'll create a group of ex-combat veterans riding around in a space-van doing good deeds. We will call ourselves something cool... like the A-Team or Alpha-Team or something. Yeah that's it!! :bolian:
If I get really bored doing that we can just take over a small Latin planet.

Yeah, but the person giving the specs of the clothes to the computer can be as creative. And there's no need to get things altered - throw the old one in the matter reclamation unit and simply replicate something of the same specs that actually fits. Sure beats waiting for Garak to get off his ass and hem your pants.

Alot of people just don't want to be creative! I've gotten paid to draw up things for people they could've easily done themselves - but they don't think they can, or don't want to - can you picture Bashir canceling holosuite plans with O'Brien - "sorry, I'd love to go but I just can't get this hem line looking right!"

And for graphic designers - the federation isn't worried about saving money having a computer design their logos instead of a person - so why not let people! If anything it would be more free to explore the creative side of design.

As for me - imagine animating in a holodeck! Endless possibilities... so holonovelist?

I started reading sci-fi before TOS came on the air. That is why I went into electrical engineering. The City on the Edge of Forever is one of my favorite episodes because Spock is trying to interface 1930's electronics to his tricorder. That is one of the coolest episodes for showing the importance of understanding technology. It still cracks me up every time I see it. But it also relates to accounting because it is set in the middle of The Depression.

I have been advocating mandatory accounting in the schools and I use The House of Quark as an example. If accounting had been mandatory for the last 40 years would we be having these foreclosure problems now?

Since the economy of Star Trek is one in which money is at most used as disposable income, one really can be anything they want, even if they aren't an elite member of that particular vocation. Maybe I'd be some kind of philosopher or writer.

I enjoy being a teacher in the real world, so I imagine I'd want to do that in the Trekiverse. I just hope by then they'd pay teachers more.

Sorry, like everyone else you work for the betterment of yourself, not for any tangible compensation. And don't get me started on what "No Pakled Left Behind" has done to the classroom environment...
