Just how omnipotent are the Q? How about other demi-gods?

I know for the sake of writing, its impossible to have a truly omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient being in the story and have the story have any suspense.

But I'm curious that on-screen, just how powerful, exactly, are the Q? It doesn't seem like they are really omniscient because there are things that surprise them. It also doesn't seem like they know for sure what the future holds. They do seem omnipotent as far as manipulating matter and energy.

What do you think? Also, what other demi-gods exist in Trek and what were the extent of their powers?

they established in VOY that they aren't gods. they're just REALLY advanced so they appear to be gods. would be like going back in time to ancient egypt and displaying a mobile phone, grenade, machine gun, etc etc.

Q are just super advanced beings. Pretty much all the super powered beings are just super advanced. No one is omnipotent in Trek-verse.

Gods don't exist. There are just advanced species. This is most likely true in reality and in the ST universe.

There's a good analogy in one of the Q Continuum series of books where Picard asks Q why another omnipotent creature is more powerful than Q. Q snaps back that there are different 'levels' of omnipotence, to which Picard supposes that to an ant every human looks equally powerful.

Well, it seems that they are aware of what they *choose* to be aware of. While Q is obviously capable of telepathy, he usually chooses not to dig into people's minds to keep his dull, endless life at least remotely interesting.
