Just Had An Insane Thought... (Multiple Spoilers!)

...about the second half of the series.

It's been known for a while now that there are two Amys in Episode 8 but I've also just heard that Auton Rory makes a reappearance in this week's episode. So what if with having a child to raise, the "real" Amy and Rory leave at the end of Episode 8 and it's their copies who travel with the Doctor for the rest of the series?

That'd be a hell of a "game-changer" but would also explain how they could move Gatiss' episode from 3 to 9 without any problems.

From what I understand he doesn't - they have telegraphed enough which 'version' of Rory will appear next week.

That sounds so positively Star Trek. :)

I also think it's unfair to the audience, to see that two characters they've grown to know and love aren't the real characters, who are off having lives.

Well, they don't appear to be in Episode 12 at all and most of the scenes we know of in Episode 13 feature Amy and Rory as children, except for that scene, so who knows.

Here's the problem.

They can't take the baby in the TARDIS with them but they're clearly in Episodes 8-11, 13 (and maybe 12). They sure as hell wouldn't leave it in someone else's care just to carry on swanning round time and space and if it died (or we're meant to think it died) you'd expect that to be reflected in their characters but then we have Gatiss' episode which was originally for the first half of the series being moved to the second half after it was shot.

They shot "arc" material which they insert into the episodes when needed, the siren episode had a couple of scenes cut so they could insert a couple of arc scenes because that was also moved. So I guess they will do it with that episode.

As for "Where's the baby?" maybe that's the arc for the second half?

It's not necessarily Auton Rory - I suspect he's pretending to be Auton Rory so he can deal with the Cybermen as part of a similar Alliance to last year, without getting upgraded...

Which is why we had the telegraphing of the Doctor asking if he can remember being an Auton in em..? the second episode?

Actually forget everything I said. I just remembered this bit of description from the Set Report of the River/Amy talk.

"She asks Amy where she is in the timeline, and she says the Doctor is dead and that she’s sad. Not just because of that, because she killed Madame Kovarian. River says it’s fine, it was in an aborted time-line, so never happened. But it still happened for Amy, she remembers it."

So we'll have two Amy and Rory's one lot of whom go on to raise Melody Pond aka River Song and the other lot carry on in the TARDIS with the Doctor.

Wibbly-wobbly.

Hmm, all sounds a bit like Lost, with one lot on the Island and one lot back in reality...
