Just After Sunset by Stephen King

Plomeek Broth

Commander
Red Shirt
I am currently plowing through this SK short story book because I am a Constant Reader. I have read all of the stories so far except the last one A Very Tight Place. Overall, I have been disappointed in the collection because I had already read some of them in magazines and was disappointed and also a lot of them probably wouldn't get published by any other author. I did LOVE the story N. which was very Lovecraftian. Anyone else read this collection and what are your thoughts?

I'm the opposite of you. I liked most of the stories, but N creeped me out too much. That's probably a good sign, but it hit too close to home with me.

Haven't much liked King since before Pet Sematary, but thought Different Seasons was brilliant and Skeleton Crew pretty good. I'll have a glance through JAS when the library gets it. How does it compare to those two? From your differing points of view. :)

Old school Stephen King kills his new stuff. I think you would like N. and The Cat From Hell (he actually wrote this one a long time ago). Both are more supernatural horror-oriented than his recent stuff.

I haven't read it yet, I usually just get his novels. I'll check it out eventually, though.

I thought his last novel, Duma Key, was his best one so far. Damn moving and damn terrifying. Best book I've read so far this year.
