Hmm... Why not, eh? My first reaction upon seeing them wasn't negative. I can see this as perhaps a way to get rid of the support pylon?

I'd suggest going far post TMP style though. Get away from manipulating a style we've seen. Find other nacelle like objects and manipulate them into this idea.

Well technically these are Post TMP i just decided to use blue bussards instead of red
