I love this episode. I never think much of the murder mystery plot, but all the interaction with Spock's parents is outstanding. An episode with a lot of character insight... and I'll never tire of McCoy's delight when he finds out Spock had a "teddy bear"! 
I also love how Sarek gently admonishes Amanda about embarrassing their son after that conversation. That old softy can act solemn all he wants, but he loves (and respects) Spock and he knows it.

I liked how the doctor had the last word it was really funny
Babel is one of my usual go-to episodes when I feel like seeing solid Trek. We have the Kirk-Spock-Bones trio going at it, questionable Kirk-fu, and an enemy ship which looks like a low-budget orange star (at least before the remastered version). It was also an episode where we got to see more of Vulcan culture and Spock gets a nice, clean slap from his mom.
Perhaps the most perfectly balanced Trek episode. Kirk and Spock both get to be the hero (as does Bones, in his way), family melodrama jostles side-by-side with surprisingly well-thought out interstellar political intrigue and we get both hand-to-hand and ship-to-ship combat and just about all of it feels organic--well, as organic as anything in TOS ever does (there's always a bit of the stagey and arbitrary in even Trek's finest hours--kinda like Shakespeare in that regard

Seriously though, great performances all around. But most especially from Mark Lenard, Reggie Nalder as "Shras," and John Wheeler as "Gav."

Same here, I think the ending is quite funny. I love this part:
Kirk: "Doctor I belive you are enjoying this"
Spock: "I never seen him so happy"
McCoy: "Shut up"
Kirk: Is about to repond but McCoy cuts him off
McCoy:"Sh sh"
Kirk & Spock: Looks on at the doctor
McCoy: "What you know, I finally got the last word"

I loved when the highly promoted original "Salem's Lot" mini-series premiered on Australian TV in the 80s - and up rose ugly Mr Barlow, the evil blue vampire, and it was... Reggie Nalder!
