John Williams conducts TMP theme.

Has anyone ever seen (or listened) this?

Pretty cool to see the great John Williams cover the opening theme to The Motion Picture, but there's something about it that's off. I'm a huge fan of Williams' music, but he seems to conduct the theme at a much slower pace than Jerry does.

Yeah, I've seen this before. Like you, I'm a big fan of Williams and his work, but the tempo of this performance is definitely off. I'm not sure why he would choose to slow it down like this. I suspect if someone did the same to the Raiders March, he would not think it worked. So I wonder why he'd do it here. It definitely does not sound right at that speed.

ETA: Oddly enough, they seem to do Ilia's Theme at a faster tempo than the original. Go figure.

I just wish that Jerry Goldsmith could have returned the favor with Star Wars.
