I just had an annoying conversation with "purists" trying to re-write history about the financials of the JJ movies, well they continue to make money in a trickle on video, here are the latest totals for your amusement:

STID $542 MILLION gross. ST09 $579 MILLION.' STID is up $3 million since last I looked, ST09 $2 million. That's $1.121 billion. Setting the record straight...would Paramount greenlight a 3rd movie if it lost money???? What idiots!

More of a blog entry than a thread-starter. At least this conversation with (self-described?) "purists" appears to have taken place somewhere other than TrekBBS, so there's no urgent reason to warn for calling them "idiots".

I really don't see this thread going much of anywhere useful, but a few suggestions:
