Hey, everybody. It's been a long couple of weeks. :) I got a little distracted from building up the doomsday machine, but I'm sure I'll get back at it eventually.

Before Christmas, Jetfreak (from deviant art) sent me some blueprints and "doodles" of an excelsior that he had been working on, and asked what I thought, and if I would build it. I really liked it, so I decided to. :) He said it was cool to make some changes, so I have, but I'm keeping the basic idea the same...

    Here's what i got:

What I'm thinking, is that the shuttlebay is going to go in the undercut area. I think I'm going to do the rear torpedo tubes Ent-D style, with a spine coming down the back. I might (it's not on the blueprints anywhere) add a third small impulse engine like the E-D at the base of the neck, as well...

    What do ya'll think? :)

Just like the nuEnterprise, I don't think the secondary hull is quite long enough towards the rear ;)

    Amazing work as always.

It looks interesting but lacks the distinct features of the Excelsior, no elongated secondary hull with that giant undercut and no long nacelles.

Pretty cool. If it were me I might shrink up the saucer a bit, and enlarge the secondary hull a bit.

    But that's just me.

Go with wider, lower nacelle pylons and a sexy new nacelle design.

    That engineering section is smokin'.

I've always found the most unique feature to be the wide ribbed neck, if you could figure out a way to evoke that it would look more Excelsior like.

That neck always reminded me of the jem'Hadar neck, for some reason...

    Agreed.

Also, I always felt that the Excelsior's secondary hull had more of a rectangular feel to it, if that makes any sense. The neck shouldn't flow towards the rear like that, and the nacelles look way too much like the JJ-Prise. The Excelsior has always had very different-looking nacelles from the rest of its Starfleet counterparts.

    Hey guys. :)

I guess I should have posted the source material, along with my WIPs. :)

As far as the nacelles go, I think I'm going to go with the stretched out, slightly modified nacelles I was messing with, there. I might change the way the clamps over the domes work, but I was thinking that the two ships were built much closer together, this time around.

The neck will indeed have a ribbed front, once I build it. :) I'll do up a side ortho render today, to show the size difference with Enterprise... it definitely is a good bit longer, and wider.

    Have fun, guys...

Holy s**t this ship looks amazing I hope it's in the next film. The only thing that needs tweaking is the primary hull looks the same as the old excelsior but apart from that it's looks great !!!

Thanks, Jetfreak did a great job with the drawings, didn't he?

Here's the size comparison I was talking about before...

The Galaxy class should be about a mile long.

The profile of the upper half of the saucer is too "enterprise" on your model. Need to change that curve. Love the secondary hull and can't wait to see nacelles closer to the drawings!
