...in comic book form!

March 10, 2009 - Devil's Due Publishing (DDP) has announced a deal with CBS Consumer Products to publish a new comic book series tied to fan-favorite Jericho, the one-hour drama series that garnered critical acclaim and ran on CBS for two seasons, from 2006-2008. The series centered on the residents of the fictional town of Jericho, Kansas in the aftermath of nuclear attacks on 23 major cities in the contiguous United States. The comic book series will pick up where the television program left off, answering many questions for its passionate fans. DDP has teamed up with the show's creators and producers to develop an authentic story that will hit comic book retailers this fall.

Obviously, I'd prefer a live-action return, but if it's good, it's good. The recent "Buffy" comics have been lots of fun, so here's hoping "Jericho" can make the medium switch, too.

My impression was that they were investigating this option alongside the movie, not in place of it. Has there been any clarification there?

There's no mention of it in that IGN article, but brief mention during the recent WonderCon (I think it was WonderCon...) that they were still trying to develop the movie. But this is the only real announcement of anything that I've seen.

To the extent of my knowledge, it's still an "alongside" thing, Lindley.

Not that I'm already on this like white on rice or anything.

Sweet news! Chances are they already have a creative team (or teams) in place, but it can't hurt to check out the situation. Good luck, Terri!

I don't understand why some other network won't pick up Jericho and continue the series.

If Stargate and Babylon 5 got second chances, why not Jericho (which probably has a big of a following as either of those)?

The movie is still on but is in pre production stage at the moment, some of hte cast has moved on so I don't know if they have to wait to get some or if they will move forward without them (the rumor is without them) and the possible civil war will be from a different perspective of new characters maybe.

Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what the insidious Allied States of America is up to these days.... :)

I'm excited for the movie, but if the comics are picking up where the show left off, I may have to check those out too.

To Jericho- the show that just wouldn't stay dead!

I wouldn't believe it till I saw the Comic Books, or someone had serious confirmation. I waited, and waited, and waited for Veronica Mars comics which never came. :(
