Jenna Coleman interview in the Guardian

It's a nice piece, charting her career from the start to now with "Victoria." It has a few Who tidbits. She talks about Capaldi and dealing with fans, and there's an amusing on-set anecdote regarding another actor.

Every time she talks about Capaldi, you really get the sense that they adored working together. She also says her favorite Doctor is Tennant (but I think it's obvious who it really is).

I wonder if it will be The Young Victoria but as a TV series.

There is also the possibility of some fandom rivalry with The Crown:

I saw The Young Victoria Years ago...I remember liking it. But I think it covers more time than this does. Apparently this only covers the first 3 years of Victoria's reign, whereas "Young Victoria" went up to 1861, If I remember correctly.

If it's good, I can see Jenna winning a BAFTA and an Emmy. She's got the acting chops. Let's see if this is the role that allows her to get real recognition.

The Crown looks amazing in its own right.

Those blue eyes they gave her, though....have mercy!:luvlove:

The first episode looked okay. I was trying hard not to think about Doctor Who but it's difficult when Tommy Knight appears within the first thirty seconds and Eve Myles isn't far behind.

There were some others in there as well, as this article details:
http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-08-28/did-you-spot-all-the-doctor-who-actors-in-itvs-victoria

The full list is

  1. Jenna Louise Coleman (Clara Oswald) as HM The Queen.
  2. Tommy Knight (Luke Smith) as Brodie the hall boy.
  3. Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper) as Jenkins the dresser.
  4. Adrian Schiller (Uncle in The Doctor's Wife) as Penge the household steward.
  5. Tom Price (Andy Davidson from Everything Changes) as HG The Duke of Sutherland.
  6. Peter Bowles (Lionel Carson in The Man Who Never Was) as HG The Duke of Wellington.
  7. Nichola McAuliffe (Vivien Rook from The Sound of Drums) as HM The Queen of Hanover.
  8. Robin Soans (Luvik in The Keeper of Traken) as Sir James Clark.
  9. Simon Paisley Day (The Steward in The End of the World) as the Lord Chamberlain.
  10. David Bamber (Captain Quell in Mummy on the Orient Express) as HRH The Duke of Sussex.
Perhaps Victoria could be to Doctor Who as Roots was to Star Trek.

^ Or it's like my brother always says...."British casting is so incestuous."

Yes, I know that doesn't make much sense at first glance. But what he means is their talent pool is such that everyone is eventually in the same stuff the others have been in. I remember watching Masterpiece Theater 15-20 years ago and seeing the same actors over and over again. Today it's the same thing across multiple shows...it's just with a different crop of actors.

Olivia Colman made a joke about it in The Five(ish) Doctors when she said "I'm surprised they haven't asked me yet. And I'm in everything." (or something to that effect)

Maybe ITV are taking advantage of this year's lull to peel off Doctor Who viewers by making a rival programme from the old favourites. I can't wait for the crossover stories (be they fan-fiction or charity specials).

Well, in DW continuity, Clara pals around with Jane Austen. Are we absolutely sure she didn't go forward a few years and give birth to Queen Victoria?

Is there a list of who was in both anywhere?
