I'd check the nearest taverns myself.

In fact, I think I'll go do that. I'll let you know what I discover.

    Bartender!

There's been a thread running on this in the Trek Today forum ever since the announcement a few days ago. That doesn't mean we can't talk about it here as well, but people might want to take a look at the other thread too.

You can explain losing a finger as an accident.

But misplacing the whole guy? This just seems careless.

    Lost...through a crash...in the wilderness...without hope...

Do I see a continuing role in a TV series for Jimmy Doohan here?

For some reason, I was under the impression that the remains would orbit for a time and then burn up in the atmosphere on reentry.

Guess I was wrong. Seems like a waste of time and money, this way.

^ Frankly, sending the ashes of a dead person into space after their gone seems a horrible waste of time and money to begin with to me. But who am I to argue. :)

I heard Roddenberry's will asked that a portion of his remains be shot onto the tits of a young woman wanting a minor role in a TV show.

    Old time's sake.

The remains were never intended to stay up there. Im surpised that anyone would pay money though for that. I guess its just for the symbolism. Really though its just a small amount of the ashs. Probably just the tip of a bone. So he really isnt missing. :D

Hey, I checked my yard just in case he landed there. I hope the rest of you have too.

I just did. All I found was Nichelle Nichols.

Joe, who turned on the sprinklers rather than hear that MLK story again

I thought the same thing. All this fuss over delayed launches and bad weather all for the sake of 2 grams of his ashes spending five minutes up there? Silly really.

Exactly my thought, I can understand the symbolism, but its not like they're going to enjoy the trip.
