Jack Layton, Leader of Canada's Official opposition has died

Just watching the coverage of Jack Layton lying in state. So sad.

Wow!

I leave the country for a three week vacation and come back to this, what a shock.

Up until this past election I have always voted NDP, out of principal since their candidate has not had a chance at winning in my riding, but with the Cons on the verge of a majority I voted strategically... a lot of good that did.

In any case.

I am very saddened to hear of his passing, he was not only a great political leader but also an outright great Canadian.

R.I.P. Jack.

I was just outside moving my car and heard the 15 gun salute to Jack.

Layton's house is a 2 minute walk from where I work. I dropped by on my way home to take a look. There were many flowers and momentos there. Several Orange Crush cans. Someone else knew he was a trekkie because there was a toy phaser.
