Jack Campell--The Lost Fleet (Spoilers?)

Admiral_Young

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Last summer I discover this military science fiction series called The Lost Fleet...about a large fleet of ships that were on a mission to attack and destroy their enemies home world and revive an ancient hero frozen in cyro sleep "Black Jack" Gear y as they try to hurt their enemy and make their way back to their own territory. It's five books long so far (really could be condensed into a trilogy) and I've really enjoyed it so far. Book Six is slated to come out next spring. Anyone else check these out?

Great series... listened to them on audio book.... a much better way then reading. you tend to skip less that way.... as ex navy I enjoyed the way the books were written... good notice to science in that series...

but I remember it differently.... the current military rulers decide they can end the war and take their fleet into a trap... and on the way... they accidently find black jack geary... who after the leader ship is killed finds himself the senior commanding officer and using ancient tactics (something other then flying straight into the muzzle of a gun) starts to win there way back to allied space...

Big fan. I interviewed the author on my radio (John G. Hemry/Jack Campbell) on my radio show. He's a military vet (US Navy Intelligence) who has taken his experience into writing. Really cool guy, too.

If you like good militlary science fiction and well done space battles, this series is worth picking up. Quick read, too.

One of my favorite scenes isn't even a combat scene. It was a scene describing Black Jack Geary's fleet traversing a system whose star had become a black hole. Good n' eerie.

I'm hoping that John and Tanya will get together at the end of the final book lol. The chemistry and romantic tension between them in every scene they have together is palpable. Yes that is correct I had forgotten that they stumbled upon Black Jack while they were already on their mission into Syndicate Space, it was Admiral Bloch who revised the fleet's mission to use Geary in their mission I think. Anyone want to speculate about who these aliens are and what their intentions?

O come on now can't you see... black jack geary saves the universe... evil aliens behind the whole alien gate technology... being able to blow it with a flip of a switch... (which geary remedied)... a whole new series of books after he goes get his genetic relative....

O and they wake him up at the begining of the first book in sick bay just after he was woken from cryosleep after 100 years and tell him that ...(they)... want to talk to the senior officer on board he's the most senior officer in the whole fleet now and would you (geary) please go to the communications room. and that's where the whole wonderful series begins...

After beeing pulled in to a world of Millitary Science-Fiction by Commander Sinclair and Captain John Sheridan, following by adventures of Captain Janeway and many many others and finnaly in an atempt to search for more, discovering facinating animation adventures of Admiral Yang Wen-Li, i though i hit the wall. So i was really glad when i came across this series of Books.
Kinder made me want to try out EvE-Online MMO that i been avoiding for some time due to its complicity.

By the way, thouse Aliens kinder reminded me of the Shadows from Babylon 5 Universe. Where they used fear of superio technologie as a striking point to cause chaos in the Galaxy.

I still cant believe Furious didnt made it, at the end. Captain Cresida did so much to get that fleet back home.

Really looking forward to the next Book.

I'm currently reading Dauntless, and I have very mixed feelings about it. It's interesting, but it feels like a YA novel. Things are glossed over and happen a little too quickly for my taste. I like to get to know the characters and the situation before being thrust into an action scene.

I'm currently listening to the audio books and think they're fantastic. I was extremely pleased with the ending of the last book and am anticipating the next one which is called: The Lost Fleet Beyond the Frontier : Dreadnought. This is supposed to deal with the aliens more in depth. There is also an Alliance perspective series coming as well. April 26 is the release date for Beyond of the Frontier. You can read the first chapter online at the author's website.

with a title called: Dreadnaught - The Lost Fleet - Beyond the Frontier. It makes me wonder if its the first book in another series of books he's witing instead of book number 7 of the lost fleet saga, and i can't wait for the audiobook either.

John has said that he hopes this to be a sequel series yes. He was recording the intro to the audiobook a month or so ago.

Well, the fleet isn't really 'lost' anymore so that's probably where that came from.

There is a new series coming up set in the (former?) Syndic territory I know.

^ Yep as I mentioned before there is a side series from the Syndic point of view (I said Alliance but got it wrong lol).
