So here we are re-watching the early seasons of 24, and I'm wondering; how much do you think Jack takes home each pay day, after taxes? I bet he makes around $150,000 a year. Chloe? I see her taking home $80 grand a year.

In fact, look at some of your favorite non-Trek shows, that take place near our time or around our time, and guess how much a given character would make in today's economy....

More to the point, what was he living on in the four years between Seasons 6 & 7 and in the time between 7 & 8. At one stage during 8, he talks about getting a job working with a friend's security company in LA but he doesn't seem to have been working in New York. And travelling round the world, as he did for 4 years, doesn't come cheap.

Perhaps he followed in the footsteps of many an ex-agent and sold his memoirs?!

Isn't it possible he inherited money from his father after season 6?

Seven. (Counting this season but not counting his missions before the series began or Season 1 -since that season was about one man's life and not the safety of the country.)

I'm sure he's compensated in some way or other.

He works for the government doing important real work. So I'd say he gets very little. Now if he was in an office on the phone and internet all day, then he'd be pulling in the big bucks.
