an unhappy ending on "24"
So what do you think it will be?
I think someone close to him will perish?
Sorry, I couldn't resist....as much a fan of the show as I've been all these years.
My guess is he's going to prison for assassinating President Logan.
I don't necessarily think that it means someone close to him has to die to give him an unhappy ending... That has already happened... Renee's death was the start of the unhappy ending, now the path he's on is leading him against his own government, which he has kind of done before, but not to this extreme. Because when he went up against a corrupt regime that was one thing, this President Taylor is making bad choices but with a good intent.
I'm guessing we see Jack succeed in exposing the Russians and maybe even killing the Russian ambassador along the way, but I think we're likely to see it end with Jack in US custody for crimes committed. He shot a cop in the foot, he killed private security guards who were holding Dana prisoner, etc...
I could live with that. It's a bill that's needed settling going back to Season 4.
Frankly, this doesn't surprise me. Maybe they're painting a target on Chloe's back. She's really the only one left (beyond Kim) who means anything to Jack.
If anything, I'm more concerned about this:
Emphasis mine. This might have been a good thing to consider, oh, I don't know, seven years ago.
If Jack kills Logan, he'd probably get a medal.
It'll end with Jack Bauer looking straight into the face of... another Jack Bauer.
Howard Gordon is the worst showrunner in Hollywood. From the LA Times...
To a place where the show's never been before? Well, let see you have Jack out for revenge, going rogue, and really angry. Real original there, Howard.
To me, the show ended after Season 7. It would have been much better than a lot of the crap they presented in Season 8.
It looks like Jack will either end up in prison or dead. He's out for blood and he doesn't give a damn about the consequences.
Outside of killing Chloe (I don't think they will) or Kim (Haven't heard anything about a return) that's all I can think of. The writers have succeeded in burning just about every other one of Jack's personal relationships over the years.
Kring at least was capable of one great season. Hell, Rick Berman even had the Next Generation.
Gordon was behind Day Five. At least give him props for that.
Like Tim Kring, he should have quit while he was ahead.
I can only make this face when reading comments like this:
I personally am sick of authentic. Fallen heroes is not what I'm interested in.
Not to mention the fact you've given Jack a tragic ending for seven straight years. And killing off absolutely everyone he cares about is ridiculous and cliched.
"Let's try to come up with something different for Jack."
"Why not make him a mole?"
"And all eight seasons can actually be part of a terrorist master plan."
"Maybe David Palmer can be the mastermind and he faked his own death."
"And Nina Myers too."
"And Michelle Dessler."
"And Bill Buchanan. They're all in on it together."
"And the only person that can stop them? Kim!"
"Awesome! This is why we have the best creative team in all of television."
i think the tragic ending is that Aaron Pierce will die...we haven't seen him yet, and he has appeared in every other season of 24.
Maybe Aaron is about to save or liberate Jack in some way, but then has a heart attack, and Jack's hope for freedom slips away as the clock ticks down...
Whatever Jack goes to prison for at the end of this season (killing Logan would be fitting), he'll be released to do the government's dirty work for the movie. So don't lose too much sleep over how the show ends.
I say Logan should make his mistake, only to run into Aaron Pierce.
