My 500 gb external drive was basically full (15 gb free) so I got a new wee 2tb external.
I decided to move my iTunes media folder to there, so I'd have plenty of space to download movies etc. it I wanted.
So I copied it across. I then went into preferences in itunes and pointed it at the new folder.
However, when I click "get info" on any of my tracks, in the info box for the song its path still points to the original folder on the first drive. I'm now scared to delete the old folder in case itunes can't find the songs. I set the new location of the media folder, and indeed a test download I did after this has been stored there, (in "get info" its path shows the new location) but all the extant media is still being pulled from the original folder, apparently.
I don't want to go down the road of having itunes haphazardly sprawled across two iterations of the media folder on two drives, both because it's wasteful and because it's likely to cause me problems down the road. But right now I'm afraid to delete the old folder.
Anyone got any idea how to resolve this?
