Its been roughly 10 years since WYLB

Jake misses his dad terribly and even more since its been "10 years"

Jake stumbles on to some Klingons who've made a temporal shifter or time device. He buys it from them and Nog and Chief helps him install it in a runabout.

The device is set for star date47987.5 Will he successfully go back in time to reunite w/his dad, around the time of first contact w/the Dominion-perhaps changing the timeline to prevent the Dominion War and his dad's "death". Or, would Ben Sisko ascended to prophet prevent him from doing this in Jake's present time?.

Just having some random, what if, thoughts and this struck

I think the Sisko would be deeply ashamed for having abandoned his son for 10 years (despite having promised to return; the lie just makes it even worse) and then when the Sisko sees what Jake is up to, the Sisko himself would go and alter the timeline. I figure he'd just find a better way to deal with Dukat. Send an army of red shirts after him (maybe the new version of Red Squad ), or something.

Or perhaps the Sisko would have Jake 'killed' so that Jake could join him living in the wormhole since Jake would be happier there. The Sisko could grab a Klingon's sack or something then disappear into thin air, with Jake standing right behind the Klingon. Then they will be reunited.

By sack you mean latinum pouch right? LOL

I have always wondered, have there been any recent ds9 novels or anything that address this? I mean, its been 10 years now, SOMEBODY could have wrote him back in by now

^^^My thought, exactly. I've not read any of the DS9 novels. (Well, maybe one or two.) Has he been brought back? Since I haven't read any of them, I like to think he was there to see the birth of his new child.

If you guys don't really mind being spoiled....

Sisko does return in the novel Unity, which takes place about 8 or 9 months after WYLB. It's been years since I last read it, but if I remember correctly, he does get to be there for his daughter's birth. He has remained on Bajor with Kasidy and the baby ever since.

Agreed. Sisko deserved a nice retirement after all the work he did in the war.

So are Ezri and Julian still together or did she dump his sorry ass? Did Odo ever come back from the Link to play with Kira again for old times sake?

or

Jake works w/elements of old 31 and they have an old Borg device and installs it in prototype new Defiant class or proto new Prometheus.
Sec 31 pissed about the present-day situation in the Federation and Jake lonesome for the old days on DS9 team up to bring a new and lethal ship and attached tech, to his dad and SF to bust the Dominion and put a bounty on Gul Dukat's head

Ezri has switched to the command track, and she and Julian split amicably in one of the more recent novels.

Odo has returned, although he kept his identity hidden until forced to reveal it. I don't recall why offhand, it's been a few years. He hasn't resumed his old job though----Ro Laren remains DS9's security chief. Most recently in his story, he returned to the Founders' planet with Laas only to find the link has vanished. No further story on that front yet, I think.

Odo revealed himself due to the return or the Conspiracy Parasites and their attempted takeover of Bajor/The Station. I believe he was attacked by one and he revealed himself because Taranatar protected him. But, like you, it's been a while.

The last we saw of Odo was in the book Worlds of DS9, Vol. 3. In it, the Great Link disbands after learning that the Progenitor (their God) is actually dead. So all the changelings fly off into space on their own, except for Odo and Laas, who are now in control of the entire Dominion.

I think those who have not read DS9 Post Fiction would really enjoy it, especially since the first 5 books are in Twist of Faith, newly released for like 20 bucks US. The story is true to DS9, references the series, fills in some loose ends, is also true to the characters, and the stories are at worst good, at best... quite awesome!

Hard to believe.

Where I live WYLB first aired the same day DeForest Kelley {Dr. McCoy} died.

Why WYLB sticks in my head so.

10 years. Wow. I know it's not dead on but it seems like a lifetime ago, whilst at the same time I feel it's been quick. We lost DeForest that year too, bloody hell! I was 15.

I was shocked when I saw Nana Visitor in BSG because she has aged so much. That's when I realised how long ago DS9 was now.

Yeah but wasn't she dying of cancer in that episode? That would probably make her look older / worse than she actually does.

They had her sailing over the river to her family at the end and she didn't look much better TBH.
