The Economy is bad; circumstances seem occasionally disturbing to the inexperienced analyst. Sometimes those around us let us down; other times we feel like we fail ourselves. There are political and religious agitators everywhere trying to tell us why life is going to hell in a handbasket. It is easy to be paranoid and anxious 24/7, either fearful or angry about the darndest things, really.
Increasingly, however, I have come to realize that life isn't really bad at all. As a matter of fact, the more I really think about it - in a neutral and simple way - the world, maybe not as we tend to see it, but as it is, is amazingly perfect.
Against the backdrop of thousands of years, human tolerance and peace are at an all-time high; violence is not commonplace, and - in spite of our economic woes - widespread hunger, poverty, and sickness are practically non-existant. As wonderful as all of that is, however, it isn't all. This is your chance to share a little personal insight into the wonderful aspects of life.
I'll get us started.
#1: Individualism. You can get up out of your chair, and you can go outside, and you can tell everyone in shouting distance that you are unconquerable; and chances are, nobody is going to tell you that there is anything you can't do.
#2: Capital. If somebody gives you a dollar, nobody in the world has a right to tell you that you can't have it; and you can take that dollar, and anywhere in the entire world, you can use it to buy something worth a dollar.
#3: Corporations. If you want to enjoy a movie projected in a first class theatre facility, because of Corporations, you can do that for $10. If you want to live in a house that would take one man years to build, you can do that in weeks because of corporate builders and lenders. Because of corporations, all the glory of the entire earth is yours to share.
#4: Stock Market. If you want to buy success, you can do that. If you want to know that you can one day be a millionaire, you have that right to dream. Even if you don't have the mental strength to write or the physical strength to walk, you can still have opportunity.
#5: Culture. If you want to wave a Confederate flag in your yard, or the flag of the United Federation of Planets, or the flag of yourself, or the flag of MacDonald's, you can do that. If you want kneel down and pray to the east three times a day, you can do that. If you want to scream at the top of your lungs about the things that make you feel alive, you can do that.
Freedom. Life seems like it stinks because we limit our own freedom; but it is a perfect world, because there isn't a single blinkin' freakin' thing on the whole bleepin' earth that you aren't allowed to aspire for, dream of, or freely accomplish.
